With 900-something acts to catch at New York’s CMJ Music and Film Festival over the course of five days, Elmore has made a list of who to see. From A-list venues to intimate clubs and bars across the city, this is one festival not to miss. The party starts off Tuesday with a premiere of Cameron Crowhttp://www.elmoremagazine.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpe’s “Pearl Jam Twenty” at Clearview Cinemas. Performing is a guitarist that may be the next Hendrix, Gary Clark Jr., or consider the incredible Hollis Brown. The Delancey is offering a showcase with Deli Magazine for BANDS.

Wednesday proves there’s not enough hours in the day for all of this great music: relentless pop rockin’ Sleeper/Agent plays a showcase at the Delancey just in time to drop their debut album Celebrasion; low-fi DIY band DOM will be performing under SPIN Magazine’s showcase in Union Square (as well as a the Knitting Factory on Saturday); Portugal.the Man premieres its music videos during the day, offers a free acoustic set and open bar before headlining at Terminal 5 the following day. The same day, garage rockers the Postelles and UK’s the Wombats share a bill at Webster Hall. Grab a Red Bull and check out the Wicked Tomorrow, who aptly rock out as the night fades.

On Thursday, NYU will be hosting its College Day breakfast and lunch paired with interesting panels on leading trends in the music industry, including music licensing with Sirgroovy.com (a contributing voice to Elmore’s March/April music synching feature). Afterwards, check out Dum Dum Girls, the Stepkids and Death Letters who make a damn good connection Jack White; for the folk lover, Christopher Paul. On Friday, head over to the Bowery for Elmore’s Lollapalooza Artist to Watch Electric Touch, who promote their rock arena outfit, or the Stone Foxes part of the Dominion’s showcase. Get up, stand up at Best Buy’s showcase with reggae protégée Ziggy Marley. Ending the festival on an uplifting note is Guards with their fuzzy bass lines and infectious Beatles-like harmonies.
