Amy Winehouse Lyrics Could Appear on Pete Doherty Record

Since disbanding The Libertines in 2005, British rock singer Pete Doherty has made a name for himself as more of a tabloid item than a rock singer. However, in between run-ins with the law and a possible film career, Doherty has still found time to continue making music. In an interview with NME, Doherty revealed plans for his second solo record, including his decision to use lyrics written by the late Amy Winehouse.

Doherty’s new album includes the song “Bird Cage,” a duet with singer Suzi Martin that features lyrics written by Winehouse. The song is set to be featured in the film Confession of a Child of the Century, in which Doherty also stars.

The album, which has no title as of yet, is set to be released later this year. It will be the first album of new material Doherty has recorded since his 2009 solo debut Grace/Wastelands. You can watch the video for that album’s first single, “Last of the English Roses,” below:
