Kings Of Leon’s Caleb Followill Now a Father

Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill and his wife, Victoria’s Secret model Lily Aldridge, welcomed their princess of Leon, Dixie Pearl, into the world. Dixie Pearl was born Thursday, June 21 at 1:00am in Nashville, weighing in at 7 lbs., 11 oz., measuring at 22 inches long. A rep for the band told People magazine that “mom, dad and baby are happy, healthy and enjoying their new addition.”

Caleb and Lily were married on May 12, 2011, and instantly started planning a family. He told People in August that he “can’t wait to raise a family with her because she’s a great woman.” Dixie Pearl isn’t the first heir to the Leon thrown; cousin and lead guitarist of the southern rock band, Matthew and his wife Johanna Bennett’s (former girlfriend to Alex Tuner of the Arctic Monkeys, and co-writer of their hit “Fluorescent Adolescent”) son, Knox, was born April 22, 2011. Drummer and oldest brother, Nathan, married singer-songwriter, Jessie Baylin, in 2009, while bass player and youngest brother, Jared recently became engaged to 21 year old model Martha Patterson. All of these royalty marriages lead to the question: are there more babies on the way? Hopefully more rock and roll first!

On October 31, 2011, Nathan stated that Kings of Leon would be going on hiatus, but that it wouldn’t last more than 6 months. Well, Followill boys, it’s been nearly 8 months, definitely time to rock those arena seats again (or even better, clubs!). Kings of Leon raced to the top of the music scene in every other country but the United States back in 2003 with their debut EP Holy Roller Novocaine, followed up with their studio albums, Youth and Young Manhood (2003), Aha Shake Heartbreak (2004), Because of the Times (2007), and finally gained attention in their home country with huge singles “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody”, off of Only by the Night (2008). The band released their 5th studio album, Come Around Sundown, in 2010. If another record is on the way, hopefully it will trace back to their southern rock roots that were represented so well in their earlier albums. Until then, we here at Elmore Magazine wish the new parents the best of luck!
