Cat Power Premieres First Video From New Album

Chan Marshall (aka singer/songwriter Cat Power) has faced her share of difficulties: alcoholism, drugs, hospitalization and recovery. And in her new video for “Cherokee,” she faces the zombie apocalypse.

Set in the desert, the video features Marshall and her group of punked out survivors facing off against the zombies with large magical crystal-powered guns that look like they’re straight out of a video game. All this while Marshall sings “If I die before my time, bury me upside down” in her melancholic voice. 28 Days Later never felt so chill. Directed by Marshall herself, “Cherokee” is the first video off her new album Sun. The first we’ve heard from Marshall in six years, Sun is written, played, recorded and produced all by Marshall herself. No big deal. Once you’ve faced off against the zombie apocalypse, everything else is pretty much a cakewalk.
