Led Zeppelin, Buddy Guy and Others to Receive Kennedy Center Awards

Every year, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hands out awards for lifetime achievements in the arts. This year, Buddy Guy and Led Zeppelin will join Dustin Hoffman, David Letterman and ballerina Natalia Makarova in this year’s impressive pool of award recipients. Even though Led Zeppelin is being honored as a band, keyboardist/bassist John Paul Jones, guitarist Jimmy Page and singer Robert Plant will each receive their own individual Kennedy Center honors.

The annual honors gala, held in Washington D.C., is always quite the star-studded event. The fact is, we’re talking super V.I.P. Like President of the United States-level V.I.P. That’s right, Mr. and Mrs. Obama will be present to receive the Honorees. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton will also be hosting the State Department dinner, at which the Honorees will be presented with their medallions. The Kennedy Center Honors will be presented on December 1st, and the Honors Gala will be on December 2nd. You can catch the Gala as its broadcast on CBS on December 26th at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).
