Camper Van Beethoven Celebrate 30th Anniversary With New Album, Song, Tour

103-1798233NGeorgia’s Camper Van Beethoven are regarded as important figures in the development of indie rock in the 1980s. Along with contemporaries like R.E.M., Widespread Panic, and Meat Puppets, CVB created a unique blend of classic-rock composition with the restlessness and social conscience of punk. 2013 marks the band’s 30th anniversary, and the band are celebrating with the release of La Costa Perdida, due out on January 22nd. At the bottom of the page, you can listen to the first single, “Someday Our Love Will Sell Us Out.” The song is vintage Camper Van, featuring plenty of violin, trippy guitar, and obtuse lyrics from David Lowery.

The band will also be hitting the road soon, starting with a performance at the World Cafe Live in Philadelphia on January 18th. From there, they’ll play New York and Massachusetts before heading south and concluding in the Pacific Northwest. A few dates will be supported by Cracker, Lowery’s other band which had a run of success in the 90s.
