Prince To Headline Montreux Jazz Fest

Prince Montreux Jazz FestThe Montreux Jazz Fest in Switzerland will see the return of a familiar face as funk superstar Prince has been announced as the headliner for the massive event this year. Billboard.com reports that the singer/guitarist will perform for three dates of the three-week festival, and tickets are already at astronomical prices.

Prince has remained a bit of a recluse since releasing his last album 20Ten in, well, 2010. However, he has taken a few baby steps back into the spotlight, releasing an excellent new New Wave-influenced song “Screwdriver” and appearing at the Grammys with a bejeweled cane and hoodie. You know, the sort of stuff that nobody but Prince could really get away with.

So far, Prince is the only musician announced for Montreux, which will be holding its first festival since the passing of festival founder Claude Nobs last year. The full lineup will be announced on April 18th.
