Ronnie Wood: I Want The Rolling Stones To Play Glastonbury

The Rolling Stones GlastonburyThe Rolling Stones have been mum about their tour plans for 2013. All we know is that they intend to tour at some point this year and that-despite persistent rumors at the beginning of the year-they are NOT headlining the Coachella Festival in April. However, guitarist Ronnie Wood has his own ideas for where the famously festival-averse band should play next.

In an interview with The Independent, Wood revealed that he intends to try to push the band to headline the Glastonbury Music Festival in late June of this year. “Wouldn’t it be nice,” Wood said, “We’ve got a meeting next month and that’s going to be my first question to them. It’s something I’ve always been interested in. I’m going to try and twist their arms.” If they agree to the gig, it would be the first time that the Rolling Stones have headlined the massive British music festival, which has played host to big names like U2, Radiohead, and Oasis.

The Stones have promised a tour this year after playing a handful of dates in London, Paris, and New York in 2012. They also recorded two new songs for the hits compliation GRRR!, but no one in the band has made any promises for a full album.
