California is going to be stuck waiting for the man for a while, as Lou Reed has cancelled all of his West Coast performances this year, including his appearance at this year’s Coachella Festival. The dates were the only scheduled performances Reed had planned this year.
A statement from representatives at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles said that Reed had cancelled his show there (and, presumably, every other show he had planned) due to “unavoidable complications.”
Reed’s last public appearance came early in March, when he made a surprise appearance at a celebration of his landmark album Transformer in New York City. His last record, a collaboration with Metallica called Lulu, came out in 2011.
