Vampire Weekend Pushes Back New Album Release

Vampire Weekend June 2007Vampire Weekend fans will have to suffer from another week of suspense in their wait for the band’s new album, Modern Vampires of the City. The album was originally slated for release on May 7, but the release has been moved back to May 14 “due to unanticipated delays in the production of physical copies of the record,” according to the band’s website. “The new date ensures that CDs and vinyl will be in stores on release day. … We all worked very hard on this record and promise it will be worth the wait,” the website says. We haven’t heard anything from Vampire Weekend in three years; the band’s last album was 2010’s Contra. “There was a certain point where we kind of knew deep down that it didn’t quite feel right,” frontman Ezra Koenig told Rolling Stone regarding the time gap between the albums and the long creative process. “We knew it could be better.” The band will be kicking off their U.S. tour on April 12 in Las Vegas, and they’ll be hitting New York’s Roseland Ballroom on April 28.
