Midnight Oil’s Peter Garrett Open To Reunion

Peter Garrett Midnight Oil ReunionMidnight Oil were one of the pioneering alternative rock groups in the mid-to-late 1980s, but they have remained rather quiet since 2002. Since that time, the band’s members have gone their separate ways, with singer Peter Garrett finding a new career as the minister of education in his native Australia. However, with a new compilation of Midnight Oil material coming out this year, the question of a reunion has been posed once again, and Garrett seems keen to the idea.

In an interview with Billboard, Garrett said that a reunion with Midnight Oil was “not out the question.” “I certainly can’t imagine ever singing with anyone else: I can’t stopping singing – so who knows,” Garrett said. However, Garrett implied that a reunion would involve lessening his commitments in politics, something which he isn’t keen to do just yet.

Essential Oils, the new compilation of Midnight Oil’s best work, comes out on April 30th.
