Garth Brooks, Kid Rock Headline All-Star Tribute To George Jones

George Jones country music obituaryWhen country music legend George Jones died, he was in the middle of a farewell tour that was supposed to culminate with a performance in Nashville in November. Now, that show has been turned into an all-star tribute to Jones, featuring some of the biggest names in country music.

According to Jones’ website, country superstar Garth Brooks will make a rare appearance outside of his Las Vegas gig to pay tribute to Jones. Joining him will be Kid Rock, Charlie Daniels, Jamey Johnson, Travis Tritt, the Oak Ridge Boys, Sam Moore and Montomgery Gentry. An official list of artists will be posted at a later date.

“Everyone has been asking if we’ll still do the show,” said Jones widow Nancy, who reached out to the artists to see if they would still play in Nashville. “They all said, ‘yes, I am going to do it,’ so with all the artists still planning on coming, we’re going to honor George one final time.”

This will be the second tribute show planned for Jones after he passed away earlier this year at the age of 81. The Grand Ole Opry hosted a tribute show shortly after Jones’ death that also included Rock, Daniels and Tritt as well as Brad Paisley and Vince Gill.
