For anyone looking for some cool jazz in the hot summer sun, the Louis Armstrong House in New York City has got you covered. This summer, the museum dedicated to one of jazz’s most iconic figures will be hosting three outdoor jazz parties complete with great music, good food, and an appreciation of American music.
The festivities begin on July 4th with a celebration of Satchmo’s birthday (Though Armstrong was born on August 4th, he chose to celebrate his birthday on the Fourth of July instead.) complete with birthday cake and the stylings of Bria Skonberg and Bria’s Hot Five. On July 20th, the House plays host to Jon-Erik Kellso and the EarRegulars. The Peter and Will Anderson Sextet will be the final featured performers on August 17th.
All performances begin at the Louis Armstrong House at 2:00 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Louis Armstrong House’s website at LouisArmstrongHouse.org.
