Wilco Play Set of Covers At Solid Sound Festival

Wilco Solid Sound Festival covers setThis weekend, Wilco hosted the Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts, which featured the likes of Low, Yo La Tengo, Neko Case, Foxygen, and Medeski, Martin, & Wood. Naturally, the hosts got to take the stage during the festival at various times, but their closing set on Sunday night was a special treat: rather than play their own songs, Wilco played a set of covers featuring everything from the expected (The Band, Big Star) to the unexpected (Daft Punk).

The set featured numerous guest appearances: Yo La Tengo joined the band for a performance of their own “Tom Courtenay” and The Modern Lovers’ “Roadrunner,” and The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson for a rendition of his band’s “Color Me Impressed.” NYCTaper has the entire set available to download on his website. (Predictably, the site is getting a huge amount of traffic, so you may have to refresh the link a few times.)

Below, you can listen to Wilco tackle “Color Me Impressed” and Television’s “Marquee Moon”:
