Duke Robillard Leaves Bob Dylan’s Band

Duke Robillard Bob DylanGuitarist Duke Robillard left Bob Dylan’s band after performing with the acclaimed singer/songwriter for just three months. Robillard was not seen at Dylan’s gig at AutoZone Park in Memphis last night; longtime Dylan guitarist Charlie Sexton played in Robillard’s place.

The circumstances behind Robillard’s departure from Dylan’s band are unclear at the moment. The taciturn Dylan has said nothing, but Robillard put up a few cryptic posts on his Facebook page about selling his “slightly used” collection of Bob Dylan albums, as well as some guitars and amps. Infer from that what you will.

In the meantime, it appears as if Dylan will be continuing his tour with Sexton, with whom he has performed off and on for the past twenty years. Robillard, on the other hand, will probably be plenty busy with his own band, who put out a new album, Independently Blue, earlier this year.
