Six-string aficionados are in for a real treat this week as New York’s City Winery hosts the 2nd annual Guitar Mash benefit jam. Hosted by Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, this year’s Guitar Mash features the likes of Jefferson Airplane/Hot Tuna guitar god Jorma Kaukonen, former Saturday Night Live bandleader G.E. Smith, and Roots guitarist Captain Kirk Douglas in an ensemble led by former Paul Simon guitarist Mark Stewart. City Winery will also be hosting a silent auction for memorabilia from the likes of Stephen Stills, Ben Harper, Steve Earle, and Jack Black; you can bid on items here. If you’re an axeman yourself or if you just love that sweet six-string sound, you’d better not miss this one.
