Why ring in the new year with a ball drop (or some crappy DJ in a loud, packed bar) when you can hear some bluegrass from one of the greatest bands around? The Punch Brothers have started something of a tradition out of New Year’s Eve in New York City (they played a run at Bowery Ballroom last year), and we couldn’t be happier. While we’re still anticipating the follow-up to their excellent Who’s Feeling Young Now, we’ll be more than happy to hear them play some old favorites and a few new tunes as 2013 draws to a close.
