40 Working Artists Ages 70 and Up

The year is 1919. World War I has just ended, the U.S. has only 48 states, you can buy the newfangled Ford Model T for a few hundred dollars and Pete Seeger has just been born. Today, as Seeger’s still going strong at 94, even the artists who looked up to him as a father figure—including some guy named Dylan—are in their 70s, still celebrating their birthdays onstage. These 40 artists haven’t checked into the Rock Star Retirement Home, and probably never will.
