Some of the queens of soul are heading to Broadway. The producers of the musical After Midnight have confirmed that Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight will be among the stars performing in the musical’s summer run this year.
LaBelle will feature in the show from June 10th to the 29th this year, while Knight’s performances will take place from July 8th through August 3rd. Natalie Cole is also scheduled to appear in the show until the end of August.
Based around Duke Ellington’s early performing years at the Cotton Club, After Midnight is nominated for seven Tony awards this year, including Best Musical. Past performers who have appeared in the show include Fantasia Barrino, Toni Braxton, Vanessa Williams, and k.d. lang.
