Paul McCartney To Play Candlestick Park’s Final Show

Paul McCartney Candlestick ParkPaul McCartney recently announced a new tour of the West Coast that finds the former Beatle returning to Candlestick Park one last time. McCartney will return to the famed stadium for its last show on August 14th, after which the stadium will be demolished.

Candlestick Park has a special place in Beatles history as it was the site of the last official Beatles concert in 1966. After that day, McCartney generally steered clear of San Francisco; his first performance in the city after that day at Candlestick was in 2010. San Francisco mayor Ed Lee said in a statement that he extended a personal invitation to McCartney to close out the old ballpark, which was formerly the home of the San Francisco Giants baseball team and the San Francisco 49ers football team.
