Sharon Van Etten Releases Video For “Taking Chances”

Sharon Van Etten’s upcoming new album Are We There is one of the year’s most anticipated new albums, and the Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter has given us even more of a reason to get excited. Van Etten has given listeners their first taste of the new album with “Taking Chances,” and there’s a trippy new music video to go with it.

The video takes its inspiration from the 1962 French film Cleo From 5 To 7, something that the video’s director Michael Palmieri readily acknowledges. “When I first heard the song, the lyrics immediately made me think about the opening sequence to the great Agnes Varda film, Cleo from 5 to 7, one of my favorites,” Palmieri said in a statement. “I usually take time to mull over ideas before coming up with something decent to share with an artist, but this one just came out immediately.”
