Aerosmith May Never Release Another Album, Says Joe Perry

Aerosmith no new albumsAerosmith are on tour for the next four months, but that may be the only thing that the band will be doing from this point forward. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry admitted that a new album from the band was unlikely. “I don’t even know if making new albums makes sense anymore,” Perry said.

The band’s last album, Music From Another Dimension, came out in 2012 to less-than-stellar sales figures, which could be the impetus behind the band’s decision to swear off of albums. “I’m obviously disappointed it didn’t work out the way it was supposed to,” Perry said. “But on the other hand, once a record is out, it’s out forever. Maybe in two years someone might hear a song off it and go, ‘What was that song? It should have been on the radio.’ And it might hit a wave again.”

However, that doesn’t mean that Aerosmith aren’t releasing new music any time soon. Perry suggested that the band may release stand-alone EPs in place of albums. The band is currently out of contract after their deal with Sony Music ran out, so they’re free to do (or not do) whatever they want.
