Big Head Todd & the Monsters Premiere Video for “I Get Smooth”

Prior to kicking off their summer-long tour, Big Head Todd & the Monsters have released the video for their next single off this year’s Black Beehive (a name honoring the untimely death of Amy Winehouse.) The song, “I Get Smooth” is extraordinarily catchy and soulful, featuring exceptional guitar licks and harmonica riffs.

Founded in 1986 in Boulder, Big Head Todd & the Monsters quickly earned a reputation for captivating live performances. Frontman Todd Park Mohr’s compilations on Black Beehive are inspired by his life experiences and current events, like Winehouse and uprisings in the Middle East.

The video depicts a classic American scene, set in a familiar-looking bar with a blonde showcasing sexy dance moves by the jukebox. The tone of the video is sleek, straightforward, and unexampled; an accurate reflection of “I Get Smooth.” Mohr looks too cool in his fedora and sunglasses, sometimes looking directly into the camera, with his monsters behind him as the definition of modern American blues.

Big Head Todd & the Monsters were featured in Elmore’s March/April 2014 issue, available for purchase here. Check out the video for “I Get Smooth” below:
