Hot off of the success of their new album Flesh & Blood, the John Butler Trio will be hitting the road this fall on a tour spanning across the eastern United States. The 18-city tour kicks off on October 30th in Houston.
The trio have always been a live force with excellent musical chemistry, and that was certainly on display on Flesh & Blood, the band’s first album for new label Vanguard Records. Butler and company laid down the songs quickly; Flesh & Blood only took about 20 days to record. “There’s something really exciting about that moment when you’re writing a song and it’s flowing and you stand back and look at it and hear it and feel like it explains things that you’ve been trying to explain all your life, or it expresses something that feels universal,” Butler said about the songs on Flesh & Blood.
The band also put out a new video for their anti-bullying anthem “How You Sleep At Night,” a song Butler was inspired to write after an encounter with an unnamed politician. “I distilled the song and the video down to the idea of how some of us can live with ourselves even though we know we are harming others,” Butler said.
