The Black Keys To Return To Studio In January

The Black Keys. Photo by Danny ClinchThe Black Keys may have just put out their eighth studio album, Turn Blue, but their attention is already being drawn towards album number nine. In an interview with Billboard, drummer and de facto band spokesperson Patrick Carney said that the band are itching to get back into the studio after their U.S. tour wraps up at the end of this year.

“I think if it were up to Dan and I, and we didn’t have to consider the fact that we need to complete the full tour circuit, we’d probably be back in the studio in January,” Carney said. The band usually work on a fast clip; the three-year gap between Turn Blue and the previous album, El Camino, was an anomaly in the fast-working band’s oeuvre.

Fans can certainly expect a new album from the band some time soon. “I think by the time this record came out we were ready to make another one,” Carney said. “We started the band because we wanted to make albums.” The band’s tour wraps up on December 21st in Kansas City, so they may actually meet Carney’s projected start date for recording.
