The Cure, Bob Dylan Featured On Eclectic McCartney Tribute Album

Paul McCartney tribute albumThere have been many tributes to Paul McCartney in many form already. That happens when you’re responsible for writing and performing some of what many consider to be the greatest music of all time. Still, the minds behind an eleven-year-long project have seen it fit to pay tribute to McCartney’s genius, and they got some of the biggest–and weirdest–names in music to do it.

The album, titled The Art Of McCartney, features contributions from legends (Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson), the somewhat expected (Billy Joel, Barry Gibb), the contemporary (Peter Bjorn & John, Corinne Bailey Rae), and the surprising (The Cure, Echo & The Bunnymen’s Ian McCullogh). The album also features contributions from McCartney’s current backing band, as well as his son James, who can be seen in this recently-premiered video performing “Hello Goodbye” with The Cure.

No official tracklist for The Art Of McCartney has been released yet, but Rolling Stone revealed that, along with The Cure’s contribution, Bob Dylan will give his take on “Things We Said Today”; Brian Wilson will try his hand at “Wanderlust”; Willie Nelson will give “Yesterday” a go, and Roger Daltrey will cover “Helter Skelter”, obviously.

The Art Of McCartney comes out on November 18th on Arctic Poppy Records. Fans can pre-order the album now on the project’s website.

[…] The Art Of McCartney, an all-star tribute to the work of Paul McCartney, is out now and features contributions from an eclectic roundup of musicians, from Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson to The Cure and Kiss. The rockin’ sister act Heart are also on the disc, and they brought their contribution to the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. In a lot of ways, “Band On The Run” is the perfect McCartney song for Ann & Nancy Wilson to interpret, and they certainly do Macca justice here. You can watch the performance below: […]
