Genesis Guitarist Steve Hackett Blasts “Biased” Documentary

genesis-band-2014-promoThis year, the former members of Genesis are participating in a year-long retrospective of the band’s career that includes the release of a new documentary on their work. However, one member of the band isn’t quite pleased with how the documentary portrays his time with the band. In a post on his Facebook page, former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett blasted the makers of the documentary, claiming that the portrayal of the band in the film was “biased.”

“It’s certainly a biased account of Genesis history and totally ignores my solo work. It does not deliver the theme of ‘Together and Apart,'” Hackett said in the post. “In interview I spoke at length as much about my solo career as my time in Genesis, but was not given any editorial involvement.”

Hackett later went on to call the controversial R-Kive box set a fairer project that “represents us all equally.” “The documentary,” Hackett continued, “does the opposite.”

The documentary, titled Genesis: Together And Apart, aired on October 4th on BBC. It will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD later in the month.
