AC/DC Drummer Phil Rudd Charged For Attempting To Procure A Murder

Phil+Rudd+AC+DC+Drummer+Phil+Rudd+Convicted+fmvX6kVmbT_lAC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been indicted on charges that he attempted to have two men killed, according to reports in the Sydney Morning Herald. Rudd was officially charged with “attempting to procure a murder,” or trying to hire a hitman in non-legal terms. The drummer was released on bail yesterday.

Police arrested Rudd after raiding the drummer’s home yesterday morning, after which Rudd was also charged with possession of methamphetamine and cannabis. Under the conditions of his bail, Rudd is not allowed to contact the person he allegedly hired to carry out the murders. Rudd’s intended targets have not been revealed to the public.

Rudd did not enter a plea before a judge yesterday. He is expected back in court later today.

Rudd’s arrest adds on to what has been a turbulent year for AC/DC. The band recently lost founding member Malcolm Young, who is suffering from dementia. The band released an official statement to Rolling Stone today, saying that they had no knowledge of Rudd’s arrest before the news was made public, but that Rudd’s absence would not affect the band’s upcoming plans.
