George Harrison, Buddy Guy Nominated For Lifetime Achievement Grammys

Music legends George Harrison and Buddy Guy will be among the artists receiving Lifetime Achievement honors at this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony. The Bee Gees, the Louvin’ Brothers, jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter, and accordionist Flaco Jimenez will also be receiving awards at the ceremony.

It should come as no surprise that Harrison is still collecting posthumous honors for his work; it’s the sort of thing that happens when you used to be a Beatle. Guy’s contributions to music and to blues guitar specifically are similarly self-evident. Hopefully, the honor earns Guy a trip to the live ceremony; he’s certainly earned it.

Along with the Lifetime Achievement Awards, the Grammys will be honoring producer Richard Perry, songwriters Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and jazz svengali George Wein. The Grammy honor for technical achievement is set to be given to inventor Ray Kurzweil, who developed several kinds of keyboards over the course of his career.

The Grammys air on Sunday, February 8th on CBS.
