Black Keys’ Patrick Carney Dislocates Shoulder

The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney may be out of action for a while: TMZ reports that Carney dislocated his shoulder while on vacation in the Caribbean. Carney was apparently swimming in the ocean when a giant wave slammed him into the ocean floor. Carney was then taken to a hospital where his shoulder was reset. The drummer has reportedly been released from the hospital, but he is still in a lot of pain.

Carney seems to be in good spirits about the whole ordeal: he posted an Instagram photo of the injury with the caption “Tune in to my new lifetime movie ‘dislocated shoulder’ airing now.”

Carney’s injury may put the Black Keys’ upcoming plans in doubt: the band are scheduled to perform at the MusiCares Person Of The Year tribute to Bob Dylan on February 6th, after which they’re supposed to embark on a month-long European tour ten days later. The band have not officially commented on Carney’s injury at this time.

The Black Keys’ latest album Turn Blue came out last year.
