Alabama Shakes Announce New Album ‘Sound & Color’

9e0be792-41e9-4672-a2ea-f4655f86ff3cThree years after breaking through with their debut album Boys & Girls, Alabama Shakes are coming back with their hotly-anticipated followup album. Titled Sound & Color, the album will be released on April 21st on ATO Records.

The album features 12 tracks, one of which premiered this morning. “Don’t Wanna Fight” is a sinewy, groovy piece of funk-rock, and it’s more than a pleasure to hear Brittany Howard’s unique, inimitable voice. You can listen to the song below, and you can get the song as a free download when pre-ordering Sound & Color.

To make the album, the band took their time crafting the songs before heading into the studio with co-producer Blake Mills. “We took our time to write this record, and I’m really glad we did,” Howard said about the album. “We were able to sit down and think about what’s exciting to us.”

Alabama Shakes will also be on the road this year promoting the album, starting with a two-night stand at the Beacon Theater in New York. The band will be hitting several of the major festivals this year, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Mountain Jam, and Field Trip.
