Inspired by classic soul and funk from the ’60s and ’70s, Austin-based Roxy Roca brings the good time, late-night party vibe to the music video for “Love Maker Deville,” from their forthcoming album, Ain’t Nothin’ Fancy.

Roxy Roca is a seven-piece, horn-powered, “Dynamite Texas Soul” group fronted by “green-eyed soul shouter” Taye Cannon. Originally formed in 2010 by Cannon, Errol Siegel and bassist Roger Wuthrich, the band  has become renowned in Austin for its ability to get audiences dancing. The band is bringing that show out on the road throughout Texas and the South in February and March.

Filmed at C-Boy’s Heart & Soul, the band’s favorite Austin hangout, the video, like the song, is about that moment of instant romantic attraction—what guitarist and vocalist Siegel calls “the magnetic attraction that can happen from across the room.” Cannon describes seeing a “sight to behold of a woman” in downtown Austin while he had been nursing a broken heart and being inspired to write a song about a “milk-fed, long-legged, heartbreaker; a fatback Cadillac love maker Deville.”

Ain’t Nothin’ Fancy is out February 24 on Stag Records (pre-order here), and you can watch the video for “Love Maker Deville” below.
