Exclusive: Rapture and Armageddon – Listen To Ray Wylie Hubbard’s Latest Burning Blues

Ray Wylie Hubbard, hey mama my time ain't long, the ruffian's misfortune

Legendary Americana troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard will soon be back with a new album, The Ruffian’s Misfortune. For now, we’ve got a sneak peek at the latest track, also sporting a perfectly Hubbard-esque title: “Hey Mama, My Time Ain’t Long.”

The song, a roadhouse blues with some serious existential heft, continues in the style of Hubbard’s recent albums, which have brought him the most acclaim of his long, storied career. Hubbard himself said it all, calling the song “a folk rock anthem Jonathan Tyler and I wrote to be performed at the Rapture or Armageddon, whichever comes first … or in a south Texas biker bar during a DEA raid.”

The Ruffian’s Misfortune will be released April 7 on Hubbard’s own Bordello Records, to be followed soon after by the singer’s sure-to-be-fascinating autobiography, A Life … Well, Lived. Find Hubbard on tour here and check out “Hey Mama, My Time Ain’t Long” below:
