Titus Andronicus Announce New Rock Opera ‘The Most Lamentable Tragedy’

New Jersey-based indie rock band Titus Andronicus have never been short of ambition, but their most recent project might be their most ambitious project yet. Today, the band announced the impending release of The Most Lamentable Tragedy, a five-part rock opera that will be released as a double CD and triple LP. The album will see release on July 28th through Merge Records.

The story of The Most Lamentable Tragedy follows an unnamed protagonist who goes on a “transformative odyssey” after encountering his doppelganger; the journey then makes him faces some uncomfortable truths about himself and his life. Like the band’s previous albums, The Most Lamentable Tragedy was produced by Kevin McMahon and features contributions from many bands in Brooklyn’s thriving indie rock scene, including the So So Glos, Lost Boy?, and more.

To give listeners a sense of what they’re trying to accomplish on The Most Lamentable Tragedy, Titus Andronicus have shared a new song, “Dimed Out.” You can check out the official lyric video below:
