After nearly 50 years, psychedelic rock band The 13th Floor Elevators reunited at the Levitation Festival (alternately known as the Austin Psych Fest), featuring the Reverberation Stage, the Elevation Amphitheatre, and the Levitation Tent, all nods to the band’s most influential tracks, in their hometown of Austin, Texas to perform an hour-long set as their original 1960s line-up of Roky Erickson, John Ike Walton, Tommy Hall, and Ronnie Leatherman. Of the 12 tracks played, 8 were singles from the late 60s, including classics like “(I’ve Got) Levitation”, and “Reverberation” followed by the band’s most successful hit, “You’re Gonna Miss Me”, as the encore. After waiting for decades to see the group perform again, the crowd went wild through the whole set, with the band maintaining an equal energy, as if they were playing like they did 50 years ago.
