Still looking for a rockin’ way to spend your labor day weekend? Look no further.
My personal favorite of all the festivals, R&R outdoes itself this year with a Dream Team lineup: the Mavericks, Los Lobos, Marcia Ball, Keb’ Mo’ and Matt Anderson. Matt Anderson? Promoter Chuck Wentworth has a roving eye for talent, and he’s found another star-in-waiting in Anderson. Meanwhile, R&R keeps the heavy hitters coming back. This year, also, Royal Southern Brotherhood, the Voice’s Sarah Potenza and the evergreen Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys. Kids’ activities and dance stage top off a perfect experience.
Small and manageable, this fest has everything but unruly crowds: superior talent, great food, an accessible venue, professional, low-key management and access to charming towns, big cities and beaches nearby, for amusement before and after. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
