NJPAC’s TD Moody Jazz Festival Gears Up For A Stellar Year

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center has announced a stunning line-up for their fourth annual TD Moody Jazz Festival, taking place this year from November 4th to the 15th. Whether or not you count yourself as an aficionado, you’re guaranteed to find an event you’ll love during the run of this renowned jazz gathering.

Close to two weeks of impeccably curated performances will kick off with Wynton Marsalis in concert with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra on the 4th. Performances by Tony Bennett on the 12th and 13th and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings on the 14th are just two of the many highlights. Also on the schedule is a centennial celebration on November 9th, called “The Real Sinatra Songbook,”which  will feature a talented mix of vocalists performing Sinatra’s hits, as well as a pre-show panel discussion with music experts and Sinatra colleagues ready to answer questions about the legendary performer’s career. Grammy winning bassist Christian McBride will take the stage with pianist Bruce Hornsby on November 12th for “One on One,” a performance and conversation between two living greats. The festival will conclude on the 15th with the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition.

These a just a few of the festival’s many offerings, which also include film screenings, art exhibits and lectures. If you’re worried you might miss out on the fun on account of your little ones, there’s even a family friendly and completely free Day of Swing scheduled for the 14th, packed with all kinds of musical activities in honor of what would be Billie Holiday’s 100th birthday.
