Rock n roll “Panhandle Rambler” Joe Ely will stroke some guitar strings and break some hearts on New York City’s Hill Country stage, Sunday, November 15.

Having released over a dozen albums in his career, Panhandle Rambler, Ely’s latest project through Rack ‘Em records, came out this past September. Western Texas has a colossal reputation for turning out sage crooners who derive their music from the plains: Guy Clark, father and daughter Lloyd and Natalie Maines and Don Walser, to name just a sampling from the vast array. Ely is no exception; Lubbock, Texas, Ely’s hometown, is where he illicitly obtained six-packs- begging of-age people to purchase them- and where he discovered and honed his transcendent vocal prowess.

“Joe Ely brings the desolation of Texas plains to life in a manner that’s profoundly inspired,” notes Jim Caligiuri of the Austin Chronicle. Elmore’s own Tom Clarke wrote of Ely’s latest effort, “This is West Texas allegory at its best. You can hear the tears and the terrain in a Joe Ely song. He put a lot of care into this album, a triumph from performance to production.”
