0f3acc_489a3ddd0221414ab257da5c8571ac1aYoung folk-rock singer-songwriter Chelsea Carlson is making music with a purpose. Accepted to Berklee College Of Music in 2010 and gaining a fanbase from gigs all over New Jersey and New York, the Jersey-based artist has been carving her spot in the industry for years. Since successfully crowdfunding her first EP, The Broken Road, Chelsea is gearing up for the release of her debut album of the same name, releasing next month.

“Cherry Blossom”, a track off the upcoming record, is the perfect introduction to Chelsea’s style, encouraging listeners from the get-go to relax with its soft, lullaby-like guitar opening. Following the gentle instrumentation is Chelsea’s ever-evolving voice crooning bittersweet lines such as “In the springtime sun, we were the flowers/So perfect, if only for an hour”. The classic rock rhythm section in the middle of the track proves she can not only sing but is a talented instrumentalist as well. “Cherry Blossom” starts with a misty beat that continues for the duration of the song but is interspersed occasionally with surprising alto crescendos and rock solos, forming a cohesively classic folk-rock track from a young and ambitious singer-songwriter.
