It’s hard to believe that it’s been ten years since Dweezil Zappa last released a solo album. But in the years between 2006’s Go With What You Know and November, 2015’s Via Zammata’, Zappa certainly kept busy–and entertained countless fans–with Zappa Plays Zappa,a group paying tribute to the music of his famous father, Frank.
“This record is a chance to take what I’ve learned over the past decade of learning my dad’s music and playing it live and applying some of those elements to my own music — but I didn’t want to do it in a way that made the music seem like just a derivative of my dad’s music,” Zappa told Billboard.
Zappa most definitely succeeded, and now he’s taking this music out on the road. For tickets and info for his February 8 show at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall, click here.
