Exclusive: Darcy Malone & The Tangle’s Video for “Still Life” is as Unique as the Band

“We play a tangle of genres,” says Darcy Malone, a New Orleans native who is the daughter of Dave Malone, the vocalist and guitar player of the legendary band The New Orleans Radiators. “We all have different influences, from pop/rock to New Wave to soul to R&B. We’re a band of equals, and we put every single member’s influences into our music—that’s what makes us unique.”

Malone’s voice is similar to the women who topped the pop charts in the ’80s and ’90s. The band’s sound is big and bold, influenced heavily by pop and rock, but with a touch of jazz and R&B. Malone certainly found the right people to be “tangled” up with- a pair of guitarists (Chris Boye and Glenn Newbauer), with raw, yet electric sounds; brass instrument jams from Jagon Eldridge; and bassist Craig Toomey and drummer Billy Schell who glue the groove together.

Watch the video for “Still Life” below. It’s unique and fun, just like the band. This is how videos should be made! The sax jam that comes in toward the end is spectacular and a great nod to their Big Easy routes. With the weather warming up and the need to throw on some headphones and bop around town, this is the music that should be on your playlist.

Their debut album, Still Life, is set for release on March 25th.
