Exclusive: “I Got the Cure” is the Pinx’s New Classic American Rock and Roll Ballad

Make no mistake. You are in fact listening to a new song from retro rockers the Pinx. This isn’t actual classic rock…but it is the way rock and roll should be heard. Having shared bills with bands like The Sonics and Blue Oyster Cult, you would absolutely think the Pinx have been around for decades, rather than just one.

Their upcoming LP, Freedom (out May 20th), is a nod to the sounds and styles of forty years ago. They aren’t trying to be like Led Zeppelin or the Rolling Stones, but it’s clear what this band appreciates. After touring for five years straight up and down the American south, and releasing albums with vintage-sounding titles like Southern Tracks and Look What You Made Me Do, it was time to step back, take a breather and get ready for Freedom.

Frontman and record producer Adam McIntyre toured with Altanta rockers StoneRider for a bit before returning home with lyrics, riffs, and demos ready for the Pinx. Freedom brings together the energy and creativity the Pinx is known for. Every song tells a story here, and “I Got the Cure” is no exception. It’s relaxing and soulful, very ’70s influenced, but still a great contender for this year’s southern rock playlists. Listen to “I Got the Cure” below.
