Jake Shimabukuro – 4/13 – Highline Ballroom (New York, NY)

Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro has been shocking audiences for almost two decades with his speed, skill, and complexity on the infamous instrument. He’s won tons of awards as a result of his one-of-a-kind approach to jazz-funk ukulele and performed at several TED conferences, where he shared his intentions for revolutionizing the stereotypical image of grass skirts and hula dancing that a uke might conjure. With ten solo records and two film scores released in a little over ten years, it’s clear that Shimabukuro still has a lot more love to give through his music. Lucky for New Yorkers, he’s heading to the Highline Ballroom on Wednesday, April 13th, for an 8 PM show teeming with genre-weaving performances and an overall show-stopping spectacle.
