Veteran trumpeter Wayne Bergeron fashions a free swinging, full throttle big band sound on Full Circle, a disc that is virtually impossible not to listen and swing to.

Ably abetted by virtuoso names like drummers Peter Erskine and Dave Weckl, trumpet legend Arturo Sandoval, pianist Alan Pasqua, bassists Trey Henry and Jimmy Johnson, and host of others, the horns cut, blare, and fanfare in the sweaty Saturday night bandstand way. Soaring, loop de looping, navigating in and around, over and under a rocket propulsion rhythm section that is downright unstoppable.

Throughout the proceedings, Bergeron himself leads where he needs to and fits seamlessly into the fiery ensemble work. Everything here crackles and pops with whip-smart charts and a flowing, creative dexterity. Full Circle is a punchy, muscle flexing collection with each player paying homage to a great musical tradition often lost in the swirl of everything contemporary.
