This annual festival began in 1995 as a fundraiser, with the proceeds going toward the restoration of the Basilica of Saint Mary. Today, some of the proceeds still benefit Basilica Landmark which preserves, restores and advances the historic Basilica. Another portion of the proceeds will go towards the Basilica’s St. Vincent de paul outreach program, which provides services for those in need in the community.
And in exchange for your do-gooding, Minnesotans get treated to some amazing tunes, with terrific line-ups year after year that always include artists spanning different genres and music styles. Austin-born guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Gary Clark Jr. will be performing on the first day of the fest on the PreferredOne Stage, along with alt-rock legends Death Cab for Cutie, who will take on the Great Clips Stage. Day two of the fest will see performances from American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, Americana superstar Ryan Adams and the Shining.
