When it comes to bluegrass, Jeff Scroggins & Colorado just can’t be beat. No, literally—Jeff Scrogins has twice been named the National Banjo Champion, vocalist Greg Blake took home five consecutive wins as Guitarist of the Year at the SPGMA (Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America) awards, bassist Mark Schatz is a two time IBMA award winner… the list goes on. Hailing from Colorado, the group has been at the forefront of the Western bluegrass scene since they formed as a family affair, Scroggins recruiting his son, Tristan, to play mandolin and help pen the music. But whether they’re performing originals or sharing their take on classic bluegrass and country artists such as Don Reno, Leon Jackson and Jimmy Webb, the group is known for their high-energy performances that bridge the gap between the past and the future of American roots music. In between a busy touring schedule playing festivals across the world, the group recorded Ramblin Feels Good, set to come out on July 22nd.

Today, Elmore is premiering the title track from their upcoming release, “Ramblin Feels Good.” The hard-driving bluegrass song comes flying out of the gate, led by lightning fast picking on the Scroogins’ banjo and mandolin. Though it opens with Blake as the solo vocalist, harmonies quickly chime in to bolster his classic country howl. The tempo matches the song’s speeding down the open road sensibility, the restless narrator telling of his travels; “Tonight I’ll be in Utah, tomorrow Colorado, as long as I keep moving I’ll be fine.”
