Eric Burdon at City Winery

Two Exclusive Shows

New Yorkers have two chances to catch the legendary Eric Burdon, and both of them are at the City Winery, in Tribeca. Voted one of Rolling Stone Magazine‘s 100 Greatest Voices of all time, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Eric Burdon still has the vocals, and now the grownup sense not to play his hits exactly as he did 50 years ago: he plays them new, and improved.

With his wild new pack of Animals (guitarist Johnzo West, keyboardist Davey Allen, Evan Mackey on trombone, Ruben Salinas on saxophone, drummer Dustin Koester and Justin Andres on bass), Burdon has all the power he once unleashed during the British Invasion, and then some.

Drawing heavily on the blues and rock, Burdon performs his oldies (“House of the Rising Sun,” “We’ve Got to Get Out of This Place,” “Spill the Wine”) with renewed vigor, songs from his solo work (“When I Was Young,” “Monterey” “Bo Diddley Special”), and surprises, including “some songs I’ve always wanted to sing and never got the chance to,” like songs from David Bowie, Randy Newman, Leadbelly, and Ian Dury, as well as works from his latest album, the critically acclaimed ‘Til Your River Runs Dry.

Burdon’s explosive energy is best experienced up close and personal, and City Winery offers exactly that opportunity. Join Eric Burdon and opener Alberta Cross for these special appearances at City Winery NYC on August 8th and 9th.  Find more information on the shows and purchase tickets here.
