Truth be told, Safe In Sound is a cool trio disc to listen to. Punchy ‘n peppered with shifting shades of Steely Dan tempo and groove.

New York bassist and composer Rob Duguay has an absolute ball screwing with time, stops, starts and the blues while his adventurous cohorts – nimble fingered, quick-witted pianist and Quincy Jones Band alumni Justin Kauflin and Israeli born, most dexterous drummer Nadav Snir-Zelniker – choreograph in and around Duguay’s elastic mutations. Rock, world, hard bop and street are all putty in this energetic trio’s imagination and performance. I’m betting these guys are as much fun to catch live in a small club somewhere as Safe In Sound is to groove to. Find out more at www.robduguay.com.
