Robert Randolph and the Family Band Announces New Album with Sony Music Masterworks

Robert Randolph and the Family Band are sharing some big news with the world, announcing their newly minted record deal with Sony Music Masterworks. One of the biggest funk, rock and soul bands of the last decade, it was only a matter of time until Randolph and his crew were scooped up by a major label.

The band’s debut album, 2002’s Live at the Wetlands, garnered national attention from critics and a rapidly building fanbase, and they followed it up with three more studio recordings in eight years, touring non-stop and hitting major festivals including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Randolph quickly became recognized for his talents on the pedal steel, landing him on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list, a major accolade that lead to collaborations with Eric Clapton, the Roots and Jack White.

Now under the auspices of Sony Music Masterworks, the band is hard at work on their first release in three years, due out in early 2017. The album with feature a host of famous guests, including Darius Rucker, Anthony Hamilton and Cory Henry, and after the release, the band plans to head out on a national tour supporting the record.
