Allah-Las – 9/24 – Turf Club (St. Paul, MN)

allah las

Allah-Las — composed of Pedrum Siadatian (vocals/lead guitar), Miles Michaud (vocals/rhythm guitar), Matthew Correia (vocals/drum) and Spencer Dunham (vocals/bass) — formed in 2008 while three of the members were working at the legendary Amoeba Music record store. According to Correia, they were all music fans before they became musicians. “We’ve spent a lot of time listening to music, and understanding what works for us and what doesn’t,” Correia said. Garnering a lot of success since forming, their 2011 self-titled debut was nominated by the A2IM Libbys for independent album of the year, their sophomore LP Worship The Sun received critical acclaim from The Los Angeles Times in 2014 and the band has toured extensively with sold out tours and high profile festival dates throughout North, Central, and South America, Europe, South Africa, Russia, Mexico and Israel.

Their latest album, Calico Review, was recorded at Valentine Recording Studio, which is a historic venue Los Angeles, CA that had been previously lain dormant since 1979. The group experimented with instrumentation by adding viola, harpsichord, Mellotron and theremin to their sound. The result of focusing on specific influences to crafting songs that reflect their own feelings of freedom, grit and melancholy showcases their evolution as songwriters and arrangers. To further showcase their musical abilities, the band will be going on tour this fall, from September to November. If you’re in the area, Allah-Las will performing a show on Sept. 24 at Turf Club in St. Paul, MN — make sure you snag some tickets to that show.
